LEITAT

LEITAT asina partner

For more than 100 years, LEITAT has been a reliable partner for their clients. Starting as a textile company in 1906, LEITAT has transformed itself to a private non-profit research centre specialized in production technologies. Nowadays, it employs more than 240 people and comprises 15 knowledge divisions in 8 research departments, all of them focused on applied research and with the aim to solve the technological problems of the industry. Moreover, LEITAT has more than 2000 square meters of well-equipped laboratories, located in the headquarters in Terrassa and in two more premises in Barcelona, and Vilanova del Camí. The Human and Environmental Health & Safety (HEHS) division provides scientific, technological, and legal support to different industrial sectors, with the aim to ensure that their facilities, their processes, and mainly their products, are safe. The group participates in different national and international research projects on the health and nanosafety area. Besides these research activities, the HEHS department offers technological support to industry by conducting a wide range of experimental toxicity studies and by offering consulting activities in the areas of environmental and industrial safety legislation.
LEITAT Technological Center is one of the leading European research centers actively involved in NanoSafety. The Human and Environmental Health and Safety department at Leitat is a multidisciplinary group that gathers extensive expertise and technical capacities in the area of nanomaterial safety. Organic and analytical chemists, material scientists, engineers, biologists, toxicologists, and environmental scientists work together and foster the synergies needed for tackling the challenges on the safety assessment of nanotechnologies and the development of safe-by-design approaches.
