13 June 2022

From 9 to 11 June 2022, ASINA Project took part at the 20 edition of MECSPE. It is the greatest event focused on innovations for the manufacturing industry and took place in Bologna (Bologna Fiere).

At the event the Project Coordinator Anna Luisa Costa (CNR-ISTEC) showed how to implement the ASINA Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design management methodology to nano-manufacturing through ASINA industrial case studies and  Franco Belosi (CNR-ISAC) illustrated the strategy and results of air monitoring campaign in order to measure the potential release of NPs in one of ASINA industrial settings and assessing the occupational exposure scenarios.

In addition, some project partners presented their role in the project and some achieved goals:

  • Maurizio Gualtieri (UNIMIB) explained the hazard assessment strategy of ASINA, supported by Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOPs) models and a tiered approach for minimising tests and provide the safety profile of materials through their life-cycle.
  • Massimo Perucca (HUB) introduced the ASINA Expert System (ES), the ASINA brain that uses multiple-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) tools to identify the design space that satisfy the requested performance attributes: functionality, safety, life-cycle environmental impacts, life-cycle costs.
  • Valentina Dami (COLOROBBIA) showed the nanotechnologies available in Colorobbia, nanomaterials, nano-enabled products and facilities for their functional characterisation, exploited in ASINA.
  • Marko Altin (WITEK) focused his presentation on the spray-coating plant of WITEK, used for the deposition of nanostructured coatings on several types of substrates that has been selected in ASINA for the monitoring of airborne particles and the integration of digital twins for the control and minimisation of potential waste nanomaterials.
