The nanoSAFE conference aims to share the latest research results on health and safety issues related to nanomaterials and beyond for a socially responsible approach. The 8th International Conference on Health and Safety Issues for a socially responsible approach to nanomaterials was held in Grenoble, France from June 5th to 9th, 2023.

This year, for the first time in its history, the nanoSAFE conference meets the NanoSafety Cluster in a new format: NanoSAFE & NanoSafety Cluster.

At nanoSAFE conference, Lisa Bregoli from Warrant Hub talked about Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approaches for the development of nano-enabled products and processes adopted in the ASINA project, and Massimo Perrucca (Project Hub 360) presented the ASINA expert system that is the main outcome of the project, providiong a tool to support development of nanotech product with a safe and sustainable by design (SSbD) approach.

During nanoSafe, a special session dedicated to early career researchers was organized by Ilaria Zanoni (CNR-ISTEC). ECRs shared the pictures of their lab at the “Art in Science” contest and award went to… Rossella Bengalli from the University of Milan. A very interesting talk during this session was the one given by Josiane Lafleur: an inspiring talk where Josaine shared her story about chemistry, passion and resilience that brought her to become the founder and CEO of her start-up. With this speech, she demonstrated that science is not only about lab work and papers, but also about creating something that people need!
